Wych
Elm Table
This table was made as part of The Wych Elm Project,
set up by the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh, to make use of
a huge wych elm that was killed by Dutch Elm Disease in 2003. The
project was set up to highlight the continuing plight of the elm
in the UK and all the artworks created have been put together in
the opening exhibition of the new gatehouse building in RBG Edinburgh.
The table was designed as a hall table with a single
drawer made of oak with a lining of Cedar of Lebanon.
